Planting News

You may have seen us doing some planting near the Burra Bowling Club in the last couple of weeks - we have been mostly planting seedlings of Acacia's - Menzell's or Tallebung Wattle (Ac. menzelii), the Western Black Wattle (Ac. hakeoides), the Round Leaf Mulga or Spiller's Wattle (Ac. spilleriana), and some Fragrant Saltbush (Rhagodia parabolica)

The Menzell's Wattle is considered 'vulnerable', and the Spiller's Wattle is considered 'endangered', and they grow normally in this area of South Australia, so we are helping their preservation.

The other thing that we are doing almost all of the way along the creek is replacing seedlings that didn't make it through the 2018/18 Summer - and we are thrilled that most of the planting we did last year with the parents and kids from the Burra Early Learning Centre are doing well, and we only had to replace three out of about 30 plants - great work!
