Section N Pig and Whistle Ford to Cemetery

The Area

Known as Mitchell Flat, this area is a mix of terrains - steep banks to the roads on Northern and Eastern side of the 'flat' on the Eastern side of the creek.

The Western side of the creek has limited accessibility at this time.

The creek as it heads South towards the Cemetery has a privately owned section, and the ownership is not clear. It has is one of the only Burra creek sections which features water carved solid stone rather than clay and gravel.

Revegetation Activities

Our work has basically been limited to N2, and seedlings have grown have grown quite well. Maintenance is made a little difficult with a 'fight' between three weeds - convolvulus, lipea and couch. Mowing generally keeps these under control, but tree guards are easily invaded.

An inadequate gutter on the Northern side has established a road gravel creek bed.

We have planted a good mix of species, and given improved capacity to landscape, the area should gradually improve over the next few years.

It is difficult to estimate when work on the other 'plots' as they will require considerable resources.
