Section K - Town Hall Footbridge to Red Bridge

Pickett's Reserve, the lake, and the gardens beautifully maintained by Council and the Burra Creek Gardeners, lead by Shirley Broad are a centrepiece of the Burra Creek.

The Burra Revegetation Group appreciates the work being undertaken, and we are working towards doing planting and maintenance  in the K 2 area as a pleasantly landscaped, low maintenance area.

To that end, over the years we have seen the Jinker shelter upgraded, the reeds and several trees removed, substantial drains upgraded and the area tidied.

We have had Greening Australia plant on the steep bank below the Town Hall carpark (K1 on the sketch), and we undertook some planting on the bank below the Jinker (see K2).

While the concept plans with Council have included boardwalks and viewing platforms, we feel that the Community could give us some guidance as to the future development of the area.

When the creek flows, this area is regularly flooded. Our plans at this stage are to see if Council can provide some stones to stabilise the water edge, and enable us to plant sedges and water friendly plants to stabilise the soil.
