Section M Bowling Club to Pig and Whistle Ford

The Burra Creek Nature and Heritage Walk we created for the History Festival has inspired us into more action in this area.

We have graded a walking path from Thames Street across section M4 on the Western Bank to join with the bike track opposite. We have slashed the areas adjacent to that path, and done some tidying of fallen branches. We have also mown the bed of the creek North of the weir/spillway.

We plan to get Council to add some gravel or crusher dust along the new path, and have yet to resolve the creek crossing which is mostly washed sand at this stage.

We plan to do some more planting there over the next few months, as it looks pretty good and not too hard to maintain. The previously understory plantings in M3 & M4 beside the bike path are doing quite well, and we will supplement them with more ground covers and grasses in the near future.

The recent addition of the tractor/slasher makes us feel a bit more able to keep it under control, and adjacent residents have shown an interest.

The mowing being done by Adam in the M6 area also encourages us to be adding some more plants and plants there as well.

Council is also planning to get tree contractors to tidy a bit by the bowling club

It is an area which has huge potential for looking exciting - it is overlooked from Thames Street, and has a lovely landscape along its bike path on the Eastern side.
