The Burra Revegetation Group sought advice about handling what was an enormous project - that is basically what to do with 55 hectares of creek reserve through the middle of Burra.

With assistance from the Regional Council of Goyder and the Murray Darling Basin NRM, a grant was provided to fund the development of a suitable plan by EBS Ecology.

The resulting Action Plan was presented to us in 2013.

This plan has provided us with guidelines for what to do.

It was prepared by Matt Launer from EBS with Mick Higgins and Rob Perry assisting in adding to its structure and methodology. This allowed for a variable amount of expertise and resource support, that is it 'could be implemented with limited knowledge and resources'.

It continues to be an excellent resource.

One of the things we made sure it addressed was the size of the task.

We had Matt and Mick break the creek into sections, enabling us to plan and work with limited areas, and with the prospect of some places being handled by volunteers with particular interests.

Some of the topics could be applied everywhere, e.g. how to plant, what and when to plant, as well as maintenance procedures.

Additionally, with the species recommended, a propagation summary was provided to enable us to source our own plants - given that it suggested we would need to source over 20,000 seedlings over the 10 year plan, the cost of purchasing them would be prohibitive.

We have subsequently added to the list of species, discovering native plants already growing in the creek!

We have also had assistance from DEWNR through the NRM offices of both the Murray Darling Basin, and Northern and York Regions.

They have also introduced us to Greening Australia who provide much needed on ground support
