Scotch College students have pitched in again, and helped us collect fallen branches and other things that impede mowing and maintenance as Winter approaches - hopefully it will rain soon!

Nursery back in Action
We are meeting at the Nursery each Tuesday at 10am for a couple of hours. We have lots of babies and hopefully more to germinate in near future, Have been working with seed we have kept, plus seed collected recently for grasses, some smaller shrubs and Acacias.
If you are interested, come along, we have a good range of Native Grasses growing to help identification.
The Nursery is out at the Oval by the Golf Course - 7259 Barrier Highway

Onion Weed attacked!
Another very productive day along the creek with Scotch College students pulling out Onion Weed which is just starting to flower. A magnificent two Ute Loads were taken away.
A special thanks to the students and their teachers, lead by Owen. They are so good at it now that they have all been shown and learn how to get them out of the ground complete with root ball.
Their last visit for 2023 - they have done Community work at the Burra Railway Station, and we are so thankful.

Mowing and weeding season approaches
A group of students from Scotch College helped our start to the Winter maintenance - at Michell's Flat, where the pulled and removed Onion Weed and Horehound in preparation for us to mow.
It is a great help!

Weed Warning - Caltrop
Caltrop has spread all over the place - it loves places where it has little competition, and spreads on shoes, bike and vehicle tyres, so watch out for bare feet!
Several diligent people have been digging some out along the edge of the bike track. It is not hard to dig out, as single plants spread in all directions. Best when flowers are just starting.
It is very difficult to remove entirely, as seeds spread easily especially from mature plants. Herbicides are not the complete answer.

Summer Maintenance
Occasional rain and warmth helps everything to grow, and weeds are doing that faster than we would like. Taking advantage of that, Wayne came to give a small group to identify the bad guys amongst the good guys, and to describe both what and when to do with them.
